Put On Your Sunday Clothes

Sundays are the one full day of the week my boyfriend and I are able to spend together. This day of the week has become an adventure day for us! For today's adventure we decided to visit the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art in Norman, OK. One of the museum's current exhibits, A Century of Magic: The Animation of the Walt Disney Studios, will soon be coming to an end. We knew we had to make a visit before it was too late. We were not disappointed that we did. This exhibit features Disney animation cels which belong to the private collection of Oklahoma natives, Janis and Jay Scaramucci. Disney cels from Snow White (1937) to Tarzan (1999) adorned the gallery walls for our viewing pleasure. I couldn't believe my eyes!  My favorite cels were those from Alice in Wonderland (1951), my most beloved cinematic production. As we finished browsing the Scaramucci's collection of Disney animation cels, something caught my eye. It was a portion of an earlier exhibit the museum hosted, Bruce Goff: A Creative Mind. I found it very appropriate that these two exhibits neighbored one another, because both showcase animation. This particular exhibit draws upon animation to bring to life designs by architect Bruce Goff that never materialized. Witnessing this as a permanent part of FJJMA's collection was definitely the highlight of our visit. That's because Skyline Ink Animation Studios are responsible for the animation portion of the Goff exhibit, and I am now privileged to be a part of their amazing team. It's wonderful to see the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art recognize Skyline's masterful animation of Goff's work by making it a part of their permanent collection. Thank you Fred Jones, Disney, the Scaramucci's and Skyline Ink for an amazing Sunday afternoon.

Twiggy and the looks she inspires come to mind when I imagine living during the 60s. I am so very fond of many past decades, but the sixties probably top my chart. Because I am so drawn to the music, fashion, and social revolutions which formed this decade, I sometimes entertain the idea of reincarnation. Surely if ever I lived a previous life, I was living it during the 60s. Whether I am living the past, or re-living it, Twiggy will always inspire my wardrobe's direction.

My Hero

I fell in love the first time I stumbled upon Bill Cunningham's photographs within the New York Times' Style section. Not only did I fall in love with his photographs, but with the concept behind them. Cunningham's On the Street features everyday people presenting themselves to the world fashionably.  While I have not yet had the honor of meeting Bill in person, I experienced his charm through the documentary, Bill Cunningham New York, a film by Richard Press. Watching the film inspired me tremendously and made me much more excited to get this blog rolling. Join me as I venture to do what Bill and other street style photographers have done to unveil the world of fashion right outside our doorsteps.
